Queen of Hearts - Nicaraguan Decaf

from £13.00

The Queen of Hearts has arrived and she doesn't need the caffeine.

Our latest drop is a decaf that refuses to act like one. A medium-roasted Nicaraguan single origin from the highlands of Jinotega, processed using the natural Sparkling Water method. No chemicals, no shortcuts, just CO2 and water removing the caffeine so you can enjoy a brew without the jitters and rest easy.

The artwork pays homage to Anne Bonny, one of history's most notorious female pirates. A fitting face for the Queen of Hearts.

Expect notes of chocolate milkshake, peanut and pear. Rich, smooth and surprisingly complex. The kind of cup that makes you forget you're drinking decaf, which is precisely the point.

Works beautifully across all brew methods. Morning espresso, afternoon filter, evening cafetière, the Queen doesn't discriminate.

The Producers - Shade-grown Arabica from the highlands of Jinotega, Nicaragua, farmed by over 20,000 smallholders, 5,229 of them women, within the Aldea Coffee cooperative. Grown under the Café ECOFORESTAL agroforestry programme, which integrates trees, banana plants and cover crops to support soil health and diversify income. Certified by the Rainforest Alliance, Fairtrade USA, Organic and With Women's Hands.

Process - Sparkling Water Decaf. Green beans are cleaned and moistened before being brought into contact with pressurised liquid CO2, which combines with the water to draw out caffeine molecules naturally. The cycle repeats until the required residual caffeine level is reached, then the beans are gently dried back to their original moisture content and readied for roasting. All by-products are 100% natural and recyclable.
