The Farm - The Chiri Coffee Washing Station is located in the Sidama Region, sitting at an altitude of 1900m–2200m. The station was established in 2014 on 2 hectares of land. The station collaborates with local smallholder farmers and supports them by providing coffee seedlings, financial assistance, and premium payments based on coffee deliveries. All aimed to improve the livelihood of coffee growers and encourage sustainable farming practices.
The station also engages in environmental conservation efforts by managing water usage and ensuring waste treatment before disposal.
The Process - Coffee cherries are cleaned, washed in water and then pulped before being fermented for 12 - 16 hours in temperature controlled water. After one final wash, they are sun dried for 10 - 14 days.
