The Joker - Ethiopian Single Origin

£14.50

The Joker’s in play.

Our latest release drops in partnership with Hastings Fat Tuesday, the town’s loudest, liveliest winter knees-up. Five days of free gigs, parades, packed pubs and pure Mardi-Gras chaos. Hastings doing what Hastings does best.

To help keep the music playing, £1 from every bag sold goes straight back to Hastings Fat Tuesday CIC* to support the festival.

Inside the bag is an absolute cracker, a light-roasted Ethiopian natural from Guji Megadu, sourced through the community-led team at Bette Buna.

Expect dried apricot and blueberry flavour notes. Vibrant, fruity and full of energy. A coffee that’s bright, expressive, and doesn’t mind a late night (or a slow morning after).

Stocks are scarce, 250g bags only this time round.
Grab one before they’re gone.

The Producers - This coffee comes from Guji Megadu, Ethiopia, through Bette Buna (House of Coffee), a community-led producer working in some of the country’s most remote coffee-growing regions. Bette Buna partners closely with local farmers and leaders to build long-term opportunity alongside exceptional coffee. Megadu’s high altitude, dense forests and rich volcanic soil make it one of the world’s most exciting origins.

Bette Buna focuses on improving livelihoods through better farming practices and agro-forestry, alongside the distribution of over 350,000 climate-resilient seedlings each year. Bette Buna is an equal opportunity employer, which is rare in Ethiopian culture. Their nursery employs people with disabilities (particularly deaf people), families of people with disabilities and single mothers who struggle to find work that accommodates childcare. They offer industry-leading traceability, tracking each lot from cherry to export to ensure transparency and fair pay throughout the supply chain.

This lot is named in honour of Chief Saffay, a respected local leader who helps manage the farm plots alongside Chief Duba. It’s a classic Guji natural, vibrant, expressive and true to the region’s distinctive profile.

The Process - This coffee was dried on raised African beds for 20–25 days, then rested to build sweetness and complexity.

It then undergoes multiple rounds of hand sorting before milling. This coffee is carefully processed, highly traceable, and handled with intent at every stage.
